Michael Ridpath has written an excellent thriller. Written in two main time frames, the 1980's and the present day, the 'mystery' of what happened in 1983 is gradually revealed but not completely resolved until the final pages. During the story that event triggers murder in the present. Bill Guth's family is being torn apart amid suspicion and mistrust. Secrets kept for more than 30 years are gradually exposed. The author cleverly drip feeds the reader snippets of information. My idea of who did what was constantly having to be re-evaluated. The prose flows really well and the characters are interesting and varied. I did not want to put the book down once I started to read. I highly recommend this book.
