The story line was difficult at first to see where it was going but gradually the author manages to draw the reader into the plot.
The climax was an awful long time in coming but the lead up to the finish was obvious when read in its entirety.
There was no way that the reader could have expected the finish to be what it was. The narrative concerning the "cold war" and the subsequent events was truly vivid and was a good lead up to the conclusion of the story.
In reality most people are unaware of how close the world came to catastrophe at the time....we now know.
