I received this book after a review of the blurb. How glad I was to have got the chance to read it.
I was seduced by the cover, that ominous submarine and the bright orange title. The scene was set.
The story covers three time periods, starting in the eighties and aboard a nuclear submarine at the height of the cold war. Life on the sub is depicted through a few characters and the author has done a lot of research to make the scenario real. A training exercise that goes horribly wrong. Tension takes the reader through the dreadful day.
The story then picks up in present day as a murder brings the secrets from the past into the open. A family is torn apart as the truth is revealed.
The final cliff top scenes are a little unrealistic but it was a story well told with great characters.
Try it.
