whoa! I was a person of the 80's and I was part of the Cold War troops (Army though not navy).
This story line was/is compelling to read, it is compelling to understand how close we could have arrived at the ultimate point of Armageddon!
to start with the main character Lieutenant William M Garth the assistant weapons officer on a nuclear submarine USS Alexander Hamilton in 1983, the rigorous training and practice that anyone involved in the Cold War endured. This is the story of the misunderstanding that arose and could in theory have arose a load of times before this incident!
Bill Garth and his fellow officers Lars De Silva, Lieutenant Commander Robinson and Commander Driscoll are tasked with acting out an order that in some ways seems incorrect there is a heated discussion resulting in the death of the captain!
Fast forward to 2019 in North Norfolk UK, an investigating journalist following the story of the events of the day on the USS Alexander Hamilton, he is found in his public house accommodation DEAD!
The ensuing story unfolds to accuse Bill Garths daughter but the murderer claims another victim!!!!
