Set in a second-hand bookstore in York, this novel is about a bookseller, Loveday Cardew, who finds comfort in books. She becomes so attached to books that she end up tattooing her favourite lines on her skin! Loveday is displayed as an introvert, quirky yet sweet. The owner of the bookstore, Archie, is also a sweet and caring character, almost like a father-figure to Loveday.
However, Loveday has had a bad past consisting of huge losses...which eventually led to her lonely present. One day a poet and Magician called Nathan visit the bookstore in search of a lost book...and from then we begin to discover Loveday's hidden secrets.
This was a charming, but emotional read and Loveday's character is one surely to be loved! A great book for all book lovers and I highly recommend.
