I enjoyed this book as an easy-to-read story with a great setting and lots of talk about books!

The characters were interesting and mainly believable. Loveday was likeable, sometimes easy to relate to and other times a pain in the neck. As her backstory was explained you could understand a little more about how and why she ended up as she did.

The story led to an interesting internal debate as to how responsible Rob was for his actions or whether he just happened to be an arsehole who suffered from mental ill health or if his mental health illnesses were at least partly to blame for his behaviour.

I liked the poems in the story and the idea of an open-mic poetry night where people spoke about their real feelings rather than saying them directly to the people they wanted to was interesting and in some ways more brave than just speaking directly to the person. I liked how the poems broke up the poem.

The parallel stories between the past and present also meant that each time you were starting to work out why characters were acting as they did.

Definitely worth a read, if only for all the talk of books and bookshops! And to potentially inspire you to get your own literary tattoo!
