First of all can we talk about the cover? It's so beautiful! It's really what first drew me to reading this book and I do not regret it at all. This is a beautiful story of a woman with a dark past and her story in finding comfort and security in books. We meet Loveday Cardew, a woman who keeps her cards hidden close to her chest as she attempts to continue life after her darker days in childhood and does this by working a second bookshop where she finds solace in the stories between the pages.
However her past becomes a focal point of the novel as mysterious packages are being left for Loveday which have close ties to her guarded past.
I really loved this book and the strong themes of romance and mystery with a second chance at love on the cards for Loveday. The writing was very cohesive and enticing I really struggled to put the book down! I couldn't recommend it enough for fans of contemporary.
