It is set in 2016, with flashbacks to the past. The modern setting differs from a lot of books I've read as I think a lot of authors try to set their stories in the past to add more depth etc. However thats not the case here and works perfectly. I like the use of modern technology which is noted throughout yet isn't in your face too much.
This book has really helped me understand how a person with anxiety and social issues thinks, feels and goes about life. It was very educational in that sense, all the while telling a compelling story of one young book store workers life.
It was frustrating to read when Loveday would ruin things for herself, you genuinely want the best to happen for her but die to these anxieties she messes things up and twists them up in her own head.
I would say this is a must read, its great for a quick read on the train and long one before bed. I spent a few hours finishing it off, the suspense was too much to put down!
