I absolutely loved this book, it is witty but deep, with some wonderful one liners; ‘Melodie witters like a “trapped chaffinch, ”’-many made me smile or agree with the author, why had I never thought of expressing something that way?

Loveday is a gem of a character, I adored her quirkiness, her reluctance to interact and be ‘normal’ I found totally credible. It was so nice to have a novel populated by really interesting, personable characters, such as Archie and Nathan

If I had seen this book in a shop, I am unlikely to have bought it, as its cover suggests a regular romance based round a bookshop. In truth, this story had me in tears at the hairdresser’s and grinning on the underground. The issues it tackles are real and accurate, it was an added bonus that for a Northern bookworm, the book references are accurate, the poetry is fascinating and it is based in the beautiful city of York.
