So far this is shaping up to be a cautionary tale of how life can mess with you, no matter how much you plan or will it not to. How friendships spring in to being in the blink of an eye, especially when you are not yet in double figures and life seems entirely black and white and how they can then change and mutate when you realise that everything is simply shades of grey.
I really enjoyed this first impression and look forward to reading the full book - it helps that the events in the flashbacks are contemporaneous with mine so I understand the background and the way the world felt to you in the early 80s as a child.
