I think this book disappointed me a bit because I was expecting something big and eventful to happen. This book had some suspense in it so I was waiting for something dramatic to happen, but I wasn’t that shocked or surprised. The time when a big twist or surprise could have happened, it just didn’t. I also struggled with how much the different chapters jumped between different years. I like books that give you an insight into the past, but this one confused me as it kept jumping backwards and forwards through different years, and in no particular order. I had to keep flicking back to the start of the chapter so that I could remember what year I was reading about, because otherwise things just weren’t making sense. The writing in this one was good enough that I could keep reading and wanted to finish it. This one took me a while to get hooked on, but I was interested in what was happening. I absolutely loved Try Not To Breathe by Holly Seddon, so I’m definitely gutted that I didn’t love this one as much. I’ve read 3 books by Holly Seddon now and although I may not have enjoyed the storylines of some of them, the writing is always amazing and of good quality.
