I'm a big fan of Holly Seddon, her debut novel Try Not To Breathe was a magnificent read. One of my most favourite books of that year, in fact. Seddon has now written her third novel and I just wasn't captivated like I was with Try Not To Breathe. First off, it seems to be marketed as a thriller, or within that genre anyway, and it just... wasn't thrilling. It very much has the wrong kind of cover, this erred more towards some sort of domestic novel.

It was much slower paced, and while it hinted at something fundamentally wrong with Kate and Paul's marriage/relationship, I simply wasn't invested in it or them. There was nothing within the 100 pages I read that kept me reading, nothing that made me desperate to keep reading.

I genuinely expected more and I understand this is one of Holly's most personal books and you can tell that, I just found it too slow for me. I kept waiting for something to kick off and it just never did, for as much as I read anyway.
