I really enjoyed following the lives of Paul and Kate from their first encounters of friendship right through to middle age where they are married with children of their own.

I instantly fell in love with Paul and his family and wanted to slot in just like Katie had with his Mum Viv, and drink tea with her at the kitchen table believing I'm capable of anything. Katie's background was somewhat tragic but the way the couples lives merged was heartwarming.

All through the story there was mention of a letter that threatened to seriously rock the boat and I found myself annoyed that it kept being dangled like a carrot, like a secret that can't be told. Luckily I got through the irritation and carried on reading as it wasn't quite what I was expecting. I did feel that the climax was a bit of an anticlimax but overall I wasn't unhappy with the ending that followed.

An easy read. Uplifting in parts. Look forward to reading more from this author
