This story really had me gripped, though it wasn't a specifically thrilling novel ( no suspense) I constantly felt like the characters were hiding something and this made for a more interesting read, as there was always an interest in what was going to happen in the end.
This book stretched over several decades, which is interesting as I was able to follow the journey of the characters and watch them grow and mature. The personal journeys each of the characters went on made you want to read on to see what was going to happen.
How is it possible for them to love each other and get married, and then end up in a complex situation 10 years later? It really has you thinking about the complexities of relationships, and wills you to read on.
