How would a world work where your size is determined by how rich you are. The poorest would be the size of a rat and the mega rich would be giants.
Welcome to the world of MunMun where the amount of said, titular, currency determines your fate in life.
Brother and sister, Warner and Prayer, are dirt poor. Their father was killed when a Middlepoor accidentally stood on him and life is properly tough. They survive on food from the garbage and their wits. If only they could get an education perhaps they could earn more MunMun and scale up (in actual size and social stature). With the help of their friend Usher they try to get into school but things take a really dark turn and it seems that they will never find a way to upscale.
Still Warner can dream - and maybe dreams can make a new reality - but would being mega rich be better than being mega poor?
This book really makes the reader examine the power of money and the divides between the haves and have nots. Is money everything or do love and friendship ultimately provide the greatest riches?
