Although I have not read any of this particular series it is so well described, and and with a quick introduction to the chracters, that I found I was very quickly drawn in to this crime drama set in the late 70's in Peckham.
The crime scene, initial investigations and the forensics are vividly detailed and the excellent descriptions of London life in the 70's, especially for a female sargeant in charge of and working with a predominantly male team, make it very easy to establish the background in just the first few pages.
