A good mixture of personal and professional, Lynda La Plante appears to have captured both with her usual aplomb here. The details of the murdered woman are told with a clarity that steers away from the ghoulish and macabre. The focus is, instead, on the people carrying out the investigation, bringing them to life and helping us see events through their eyes.

Great start and I am looking forward to reading more.
