I have not read any books by Lynda La Plante, so approached this with an open mind. However, I was not really impressed. I found the language unsophisticated, and the dialogue unconvincing in places, as if the real reason for the conversation was to inform the reader about aspects of the background to the events now taking place. The plot is fine, a decent beginning to a thriller, but I'm not keen to read the rest of the book.
