Set in 1979 in London, Lynda la Plant tells a tale of multiple murders with some really gruesome moments. It’s full of great detail from the bin men strikes and the Winter of discontent which adds a feeling of reality to it all. Jane Tennison as to deal with the discrimination women had to deal with in such a male oriented profession, but her skill as a detective are finally recognised. I love the way Lynda La Plante describes the characters and even their clothing too, which really helps draw a picture of everyone and really builds the atmosphere of the time and their personal circumstances. Ms La Plant has clearly done al a credible amount of research into police procedures and the language they used (and probably still do !) it has a great twist too..Brilliant
