This book made for a great holiday read. I might be a little on the biased side as I love a Lynda La Plante novel and I also love a crime/detective/drama novel, so really this ticks all the boxes for me immediately. However, having read some reviews I was a little concerned that the book might be a let down. Yet, none the less I enjoyed the whole thing thoroughly. The style of writing is typical of Lynda, easy to read, a nice formal but not too formal feel, and just generally well flowing. The plot perhaps could be guilty of being a little predictable but I'm not necessarily adverse to a predictable plot and I still found it rather enjoyable overall. I especially liked the fact that although the book itself is part of a series, it didn't feel like you had to have read the rest of the series to understand Murder Mile - ultimately making it much more accessible. I would say that this particular Jane Tennison story didn't quite live up to previous stories, but perhaps that's just because I had such high expectations? To conclude though, I definitely enjoyed it and found it to be a nice holiday read!
