I remember the winter of discontent, newly married and in my first home. Weeks and weeks without our dustbins etc cleared away. The description of how the streets looked and how they smelt during this time was well described and reminded me so much of what a miserable time this was.
I have read many of Linda's books and have never been disappointed. Her description and the blunt way her characters engage with one another, sometimes with humour. Jane Tenneson's climb up the ranks in a male dominated profession. The unraveling of the plot etc I find exciting and I rush to finish the book and then I read again at a more leisurely pace, savouring some of the elements of the story I may not have picked up on fully the first time.
The preview of this novel holds the same exciting appeal and I can't to get absorbed into this novel!
