Lynda La Plante is a brilliant very readable author, her Tennison series of books is amazing. Murder Mile is another fascinating book some characters reappearing from earlier stories but this does not interfere with the first time readers enjoyment of the book.

As more bodies are found with nothing to link them a frustrating time ensues for the investigation team.

It includes all of the prejudices rife at the time both inside and outside of the investigation.

The story is set in 1979, with refuse collectors on strike and chaos on the streets as rubbish builds up everywhere. The characters are brought to life by Lynda and her clear but not over stated descriptions. The way the characters interweave though the story is like a dance unfolding. When people start lying it doesn't help but confuses the investigation. So who is the murderer/ or murderers?
