Have to say, this is probably my favourite book of the series so far!
Jane Tennison has either grown as a character or I’ve grown to love her, either way she did a brilliant job in this book. I don’t feel like I was rolling my eyes at her doing silly things, I felt that Jane had grown in confidence, maybe taking a few extra risks (must have been hard working a “man’s job” back then) but I loved that she took those risks….. some of those past characters definitely rubbed off on her!
I enjoyed the throw backs to previous books (don’t worry, you can read them as stand alones) they made me smile and had me remembering what had happened. Ms La Plante definitely knows how to dangle a carrot and keep you reading, many times past my bedtime.
This book felt a little darker than the first 3, not that I’m complaining as that’s the way I like my books, I hope the author sticks to that…. I’m invested in the series now so I’ll be reading them all!!
