I think this is a perspective that is lacking in the true crime genre. Of course, there are other books out there that offer view points on criminological perspectives of crime, especially Murder, and the way in which such crimes are perceived by the public, but I often find that books I read in this genre steer towards sensationalisation or victim-blaming, which is never a good look. As a criminology and psychology student, wanting to pursue a career in working with the incarcerated, I find that this introduction hits the right spot for me; just the perfect balance of points that are extremely important but may not be *that* interesting to read through, and the aspects that are likely to draw readers in.
