I love non- fiction, I love crime fiction, I love anything historical - so this blends lots of appealing things for me! In fact, this book has been on my radar for a while as one I think I'll love.
The opening of this book is intriguing - I like that the focus is on the legal definition of murder as I hadn't really considered the complexity of this as a crime, as opposed to terrorism, or the range of acts that this encompasses. It's always depressing to see the statistics about women killed by current or previous partners too, but kind of reassuring to hear that our actual experiences of murder are far less than our fascination with the topic would suggest. I'll admit that I'm one of the people interested in this dark but intriguing topic and think I'd love this book.
