As an avid fan of History, it was really refreshing to see the origin of the word murder and its integration into the legal system. I enjoyed adding to minimal pre-existing knowledge about the wergild and the differentiation between murder and manslaughter. The truth is always more fascinating to read than fiction and this book epitomises the saying. Kate Morgan has perfectly captured and played to the interests of those who are like me and won't be able to put down the book until it's been read cover to cover, potentially multiple times, with annotations of favourite pages and potential further research.
