I really struggle with nonfiction writing. I’m often having to reread sentences and paragraph several times before understanding it. However, Kate Morgan presented the complex law around homicide in simple terms that even my poor brain could keep up with.
Each chapter explores a different section of the law and makes it easy to read in small increments.
Morgan covered the larger cases that are household names, such as the P&O ferry from the 80s, to the smaller niche cases that have fallen into history but still hold sway over our current system.
It was also fascinating to see how public opinion and political views of the day influenced murder trials in the past.
I also found the glossary at the back particularly handy when different legal terms would pop up.
If you’re interested in true crime or just want to understand more on UK murder law I recommended picking up a copy.
