This was such a chilling, fascinating read.
From the seventeenth century onwards the author narrates the history of the macabre world of murder and of course the characters immersed in this truly gruesome occupation.
Starting with the Institutes of the lawes of England the narrative chronologically comes down through the centuries to near present day heinous crimes of this nature.
We hear of grisly stories of medical negligence, psychopaths, serial killers. Cannibalism and corporate death with some very famous names mixed in, Ellis, Sutcliffe, Nilsen and many others who shaped and defined the course of murder and it's attendent punishments in a court of law.
This was such a great read, very informative and I learned a lot about legal loopholes changed in the laws and cases for diminished responsibility.
This is a must for any true crime fan.
