Firstly, what an eye-catching cover design - both elegant and macabre; it certainly pulls on your curiosity. True crime has always interested me and Kate Morgan's book is a detailed exploration of what actually is murder through the study of several cases over a large time span. There are a variety of cases in this biography of murder, some very familiar and others more everyday.
This is definitely a book for crime readers, but it's written in such as way to make it appealing to a wider audience. It's a discussion of history and how crimes from far back have worked together to create the justice system and notion of what constitutes murder today.
From the popularity of songs about murder, like 'Delilah', cannibalism for survival and more high profile cases, such as Ruth Ellis, this is a book that fascinates and demands thought from its reader.
I really enjoyed Morgan's writing style and would absolutely recommended this book.
