Murder: The Biography is certainly not for the faint of heart. This well-crafted work goes into the gritty, murky side of crime and the motives of criminals - which, understandably, can get rather gruesome. For my taste, this book is a touch too descriptive, however I can picture it to be brilliant for crime fanatics.

As a reader of fiction, Murder: The Biography was a refreshing read as I don't typically enjoy works of non-fiction. However, while grisly at times, I was hooked from the start and had finished it within a few days. Yes, non-fiction still is not my go-to genre, but this is still something I would read again.

If you are new to the genre of crime and mystery, I would recommend something a little 'softer' plot-wise, for example a crime fiction novel, before delving into this biography. The blurb doesn't lie when it says that it can be shocking at times! However, on the whole, I'd recommend it.
