Although I struggle through non fiction books such as this, I really enjoyed the way 'Murder: The Biography' was put together. Real life murders that have taken place in Britain are analysed, and then the interesting part takes place. The author shows us how the abnormalities and outlandish nature of these crimes, forced the British courts to change the law. The fact that these murders often took place a few hundred years ago, can often make them seem unreal and they become almost like a fable. This is something I dislike about the people's fascination with true crime. It almost seems like the victim of these violent actions is forgotten and their life just becomes a sensationalised story. However in this book, you see how their sad endings, have helped to protect and also convict people even up to present day. I think this would be a great gift for a law student!
