I found 'Murder The Biography' a fascinating book to read, some of the crimes covered I remember happening in my life time such as the Zeebrugge disaster and more obscure cases that have changed the law. It was very interesting to learn the history of the law around murder and manslaughter and why some cases are tried a certain way. The history of how laws came to be made and how they have been updated through events such as high profiles murders, disasters and accidents was very interesting too. I particularly enjoyed learning the origins of words and phrases like sweet fanny adams that many people use today without knowing where it came from.
The history is told in a clear and precise way without sentimentality just explaining the facts of the cases involved. I would thoroughly recommend this book to those interested in true crimes and criminal law.
