The way this book is written is amazing - it balances the informative, educational aspect with a compelling narrative that uses straightforward language and paces the book to make it extremely compelling and readable.

The writer uses their expertise to explore the changes to murder and manslaughter laws in the UK and presents case studies from the last one thousand years to show how it has changed and evolved. Each chapter explores a different aspect of these laws, and these are neatly presented.

This book recognises that murder cases receive a great deal of public interest and that as a society we are obsessed with homicide, from what we read and the TV dramas that are made, as well as the explosion of true crime content. However, this book doesn't glamorise or glorify murder and explores the intricacies and complexities of historical case studies in a way that is very interesting and insightful.

Would highly recommend.
