I was excited to read this book, having a love of crime books and documentaries I love delving into why people resort to murder. The book is well written and brilliantly researched, although there is a lot of fact and stories mentioned that I did struggle to remember, a little bit of overload at times.
The author is correct that we have normalised crimes and the murderers themselves as we are subjected to it so often, although the number of crimes hasn't necessarily increased but we have sensationalised certain crimes and given them prime news so we hear about them more often.
The book is fascinating but it was like reading a dissertation, a lot of examples and explanation of what we class as murder with examples of cases that changed the law as we know it today. If you are after a light read this isn't for you but if you love reading about crime with the history of how it came to be, this is for you.
