This proved to be a really interesting read. We have, as a society, what could be seen as an unhealty obsession with true crime. It fuels our TV, factual and fictional, and our books also. With the rise of podcasts have come yet another way for us to access our connection to this grisely yet fascinating subject.

How do we approach looking at a history of murder? From a social, cultural, anthropological perspective? From a perspective, instead, that considers the vulnerable survivors and often forgotten victims? It's a strange balance to strike.

And yet, in "Murder: A Biography", Kate Morgan, lawyer and author, manages to strike a balance somewhere between the two. We learn about accidental and intentional deaths, their history and the intentions behind the way are handled. It's an interesting book that is sure to grab the attention of anyone who has an interest in true time.
