Having worked in the Police Service I was really interested in this book and how the offence of Murder came about. I like many others before me went in thinking that I knew a lot about the definition of murder but actually I really knew a very small part of how the laws we have today have evolved from a very basic definition in order to encompass the many arms of the actual definition which is not just about the pre meditated killing of a person. I really thought that the style of the book was great the examples were well placed and demonstrated the points being raised really well. I was also fascinated by the amount of murderers that got their appeals quashed on legal technicality and I was unsurprised by the amount of times insanity or diminished responsibility attempted at least to play a part in people’s defence of the acts they committed. Highly recommended
