“…saw the case as a golden opportunity to finally clarify the law and disabuse the maritime community of the notion that there was nothing inherently wrong with eating a cabin boy."

Kate Morgan wrote a really good overview of how the concept of murder evolved over the years under British law, taking into account its shortcomings at every step! There were some sections that went on for too long, but as a whole this was a great read! There were also plenty of citations that help anyone who wants to go on and read more on the subject (for me, this book was enough). I’m not someone who is generally interested in this subject, but Morgan was able to keep me around.

While I don’t read a lot of true crime, I feel like this will appeal to fans of the genre who want greater understanding of the law looked into these cases and evolved.

I will add the disclaimer that I received a copy of this book from NetGalley for free, and I’m now posting my review here as well.
