This was such a wonderful read, bloody, gruesome and totally my kind of thing.
I love all kinds of horror and true crime.
But this was a crime book with a difference, it followed the HISTORY of murder in all its guises.
From the laws and ramifications of murder and the early days of those creating the penalties for it down to even more modern crimes and serial killers or famous cases.
The flow of the narrative followed the different grades and punishments for different kinds of murder, diminuendo responsibility, manslaughter, infanticide etc.
Then you came onto the more well known perpetrators such as the Yorkshire Ripper, Dennis Nilsen and many more.
I loved the way the book dealt with such diverse cases of the crime even including a story of cannibalism on the high seas!
This is truly a must read for fans of the genre as it dealt with the more legal aspect and the laws regarding murder which gave a slight twist to just anothe or true crime book narrating only the facts of a case.
Brilliant.
