A mysterious sounding read

My first impression of this book is that it features various characters who give their viewpoints in different chapters, so different peoples views will be explained to the reader during the plot, which (to me) has to be a good thing. It sounds quite mysterious and I was curious to find out about peoples history/background, what hides behind the presumed facade.

I liked the front cover as it gave the impression of a person that is within reach but which we can't see properly, so in a way its toying with the potential buyer/reader, saying 'im here, you can almost see me but not quite. Come see me and learn about me by reading me'. I like that it gives the impression its (if but partly) set in the outdoors, which, judging by the extract, is the case – there's more of a spooky atmosphere present when events occur outside, particularly at night time, I'd have thought. I also, more specifically, like the mention of an orangery with lemon trees.

In any case, it did appeal to me. I like a well written psychological thriller and I'd be willing to give this a go.
