Mystery-thriller? Honestly not sure of the genre of this book (and I could give the cover a miss as well, as it reminds me a bit of P. D. James and several books I've read and disliked) but it definitely seems interesting so far. Emma seems a little like a stifling mother, someone who keeps their children with them at all costs, and Stella a lot more independent. It'll be interesting to see how their dynamic progresses. Lizzie is a lot more engaging to read from, but that might just be a more personal connection to her sort of character. Overall, the story set up by this extract really makes me want to read more.
