The first chapter/forward was quite violent and dramatic. To be honest, I feel a little like it put me off reading the rest of the novel. Particularly when a small child is being threatened with a knife.
The following chapter with it’s kind of mundane family holiday routine was at complete odds which would hint at a potentially interesting plotline as to how the two sides join up.
However, the story didn’t grip me enough to make me want to read more of it.
