Swinging effortlessly between cosy and chilling, this is an intriguing tale told from multiple perspectives. I read it rather quickly, since I was metaphorically holding my breath and really needed to know the outcome of this rather far-fetched but wonderfully imagined story. Although there were some massive coincidences that were a little difficult to swallow, the characters were three-dimensional and believable, especially the teenager Stella.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and was impressed by the ending - it was not the neat and tidy resolution to a hopelessly difficult situation that I was expecting, but a more imaginative and messy conclusion that I have continued to ponder over - it's not a book to put down and forget again straight away, it needs digesting. A gripping read!
