A very well-plotted novel which kept my attention keen from start to finish. Believable characters, both teenagers and parents, are mostly likeable which I find always helps me care what happens to them. I don't think you'll be able to set this story aside till you've found out how it all works out for everyone.

Sanjida Kay uses the device of jumping between two separate timelines across several parts of England and writing each chapter from the point of view of a different character - not too many, only Lizzie, Emma and Stella. It could be confusing but it's done so expertly that the reader is transported effortlessly.

This is the first of Sanjida Kay's books I've read. I can see there are another two already published for me to read next. I hope they will be as downright entertaining as My Mother's Secret.
