From the very start of this book I could see that tensions would be running high. The main character asks you to judge her, hate her and not forgive her which immediately prompted me to wonder what she had done, and whether she would be a character with a redemption arc.

I was also very interested by the initial setting of the book, at a court inquest, as it is not often that books such as these place you in the action of the plot immediately.

However, there were quite a few characters who were mentioned in the first couple of chapters of the story who were initially a little difficult to keep track of.

I liked how much of the story was written in reflection, as it gave me a greater understanding of both the story and character development.

Therefore, I thought that this was a very interesting representation of ideas surrounding friendship, as well as the idea of passion and hatred.
