What goes up but doesn’t come down?
Liked the authors story basis, like the vocabulary and the characters. Jasmin and Becky and Alex - all likeable and believable. However, personally, I would have liked a bit more of the backstory of the travellers (no plot spoilers from me) and the stone finders.
The story got a bit slow going and then seemed to march forward at a fair rate once Doubleday came on the scene. I felt there was more that could have been said about that character too. Seemed a bit far fetched as to his incarceration and subsequent resurrection.
Not sure whether I enjoyed the style of ‘interviwee’ type revelations which had me guessing as to whom the interviewer was till near the end. Felt that the ultimate end to the book left a lot unsaid so felt it was a bit of an anticlimax.
That said, it was an easy read and I would read another of Sally Gardner’s books.
