Compelling opening chapters that immediately draw you in

I loved the first two books in the series, Corpus and Nucleus, and have been eagerly awaiting the third book. The author can be relied upon to create taut, skilfully plotted and hugely enjoyable historical thrillers. The enticing opening chapters suggest Nemesis will be no exception. I was immediately intrigued to find out how the stories of the various characters who feature in the first four chapters will come together. I loved the name drop in the second chapter and the old romantic in me was pleased to see Tom and Lydia are together. Can't wait to read the rest of the book!
