I don't know how some people can write such a novel - total and utter brilliance that had me captured from the start to the final pages.
There are quite a few characters and the plot could lead you in a number of directions to keep you on your toes.
The story is set in Cambridge at the beginning of world war II when Britain decided to declare war on Hitler and Germany. Part of the book is also centered around France and it also touches on how the USA decides for the time being to remain neutral.
Two central characters Tom and Lydia have an upcoming wedding buy she cannot face the thought of marriage in such uncertain times but they go on their honeymoon to France. But Tom is approached by a man telling him a friend of his is in a concentration amp ....what will he do ?
This books dips into history with a great resolve and shows you the realities of war through the authors brilliant descriptions. This is one book I really enjoyed and I don't want to put a full and proper review as I feel whatever I write will give away the story.....but needless to say I cannot wait for another book from this author
