This is by far the best book in the series so far. Each of the long-running characters has such a depth of history and personality that enhances the plot because you know why the characters are feeling that way. The plot itself was pacy and gripping and unlike the previous books, there were no points where it went on a slightly unnecessary tangent. Furthermore, this is the first book out of the series that didn't at all feel formulaic or planned. The plot seemed to naturally flow and for this, the book was more interesting to read. I read the series out of order and followed it well so I wouldn't say you need to but I do feel it would add the extra depth of background if you did read them in order. I just can't wait for the next one!
