I liked that the female lead was quite a strong character in this book. I also quite enjoyed the easy-to-read format and understandings of the good vs bad characters in the book. It is easier to follow a character when the one they are fighting against is so horrible.
I felt like there were some parts I missed out on because I hadn’t read the others in the series, so probably would have enjoyed it more if I had also read the others.
The storyline was interesting with a few unexpected twists and turns. I liked that the main character’s solution to a lot of things was to drink whisky. It was relatable but not in a way that painted him in a bad light.
The book didn’t quite match what I expected from the front cover but that was actually ok!
