I had never read a Rory Clements novel before going into this so I do wish I had read the first 2 books in his series as the reviews on them are amazing. I thought this book was really interesting and felt very realistic. It is set before world war 2 and travels around France and the UK throughout the book. I enjoyed Lydia in this book and I would have loved to learn more about her. As for the plot, I thought it was brilliant and really interesting but as I hadn't read the other 2 books I felt like i was missing something.
I did feel like there was some random connections in this book which I had to double back on to understand and sometimes I didn't realize someone was being murdered until i got to the end of the sentence as the wording was so intense.. I think this book is brilliant but you would have to really concentrate to read it!
